Our school provides opportunities for students, staff and parents to know and celebrate their Catholic faith. This is done through the religious life of our school. Members of our community experience a rich liturgical and prayer life, celebration of the Sacraments, faith formation, social outreach activities, and opportunities to share faith with each other and with youth from other schools in the Archdiocese.
The school is part of the Parish of St. Michael’s Hurstville which is currently administered by the Michaelite Order, with Fr Janusz as the Parish priest since 2015. The school and Parish have an excellent working relationship with the Parish Sacramental celebrations and Father Janusz timetabling regular opportunities for celebrations of the Eucharist and Penance, while visiting classrooms on a weekly basis.
The St Mary’s Star of the Sea Catholic Primary School Hurstville community is centred around the mission of Jesus. We provide opportunities for students, staff and parents to celebrate our Catholic faith with Masses, liturgies, prayer groups, retreats and spirituality days. Prayer is also a major part of our school day as we pray each week as a school community during assemblies based on the needs of the school and Parish community.
During each term our students have the opportunity to participate in a Parish Mass with their parents. We also have our whole school Masses during liturgical feast days and celebrations.
